My favourite cat food for years now so used with various cats . Very nutritious, healthy & popular as a regular food even with fussier cats. None of them have liked any flavours other than the chicken. I have not found it too sloppy – other brands have actually been far sloppier than Nutriment. In fact I add a tiny amount of water to their dishes as this concentrated food can sometimes lead to slight constipation otherwise. (Tinned foods are obviously far higher in water!)
Colour can vary but I think this depends on how it is delivered & where you buy it, because if it is allowed to start defrosting slightly then it does go browner & smell bit off when you use it. One of my fussy cats does not like it if it reaches this stage – I add biscuit or something & then he does eat it up. I defrost a pack for about 20-30 mins & cut into portion sizes with a very sharp knife before refreezing, ready to defrost fully in daily portions. If I forget & leave it defrosting longer before refreezing in portions, then it will be browner & smell less appetising when I’m ready to fully defrost.
As another reviewer said, cat’s coat becomes far silkier with this food & allergies can lesson or end altogether.
You need to change cats over to raw food gradually as some take a short while to become accustomed to change to raw. Really recommend this cat food.

After finding out my cat was diabetic I have switched to a canned or raw diet for all 3 (aged 15, 17 & 19) with no dry food as I didn’t realise how bad biscuits were for cats 🙁 I’ve tried the other brands which they all turned their noses up at but this one is the most expensive and can also be used for dogs so I gave it a go. The oldest cat doesn’t like it but the other 2 and dog (2 year old Spanish rescue ) love it. It makes injection time for the diabetic really easy and they are full of life and have lovely soft fur.

I would have given 5 stars except for 2 reasons. One is that it’s very erratic in colour, sometimes grey or even green – doesn’t smell bad and they still eat it but yesterday I went to our pet shop and there was a stack of Nutriment boxes in the sun so I’m guessing this is why it changes colour. It’s made me a bit wary and I will now open the boxes in the pet shop before I buy them. Secondly they love the chicken but it has beef in it too. My vet has told me never to feed beef to cats as they cannot catch it in the wild so their bodies are not set up to digest it properly. Hoping Nutriment bring out more versions that only contain things a cat can catch and digest like game birds and rabbit only.

      Hi Danielle

Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review. It’s great to hear your cats and dog love our Cat Chicken!

As our products are completely natural, without any intensively farmed produce, it is expected for batches to vary in appearance, texture etc. Whilst cats would not hunt down a cow in the wild, the beef offal we use is rich in taurine (essential for a complete cat diet). As the produce is raw it is easily absorbed into the body.

We also have a Rabbit and Turkey for cats here:

Thank you again for your review!

Both my cats love the chicken flavour and all the nutriment range, I have tried them on all the nutriment flavours now as well as other brands as I am trying to convert them fully to a BARF diet, I am nearly there and above all the other brands I have tried (2 other leading brands) they prefer Nutriment the most, good job peeps, I am very happy, thank you

Only one of my 2 cats eat this brand of raw food, but she eats it readily, even though she really prefers the beef option.
Would prefer if it came in smaller sized packs as some of it usually goes to waste.

Fantastic raw cat food loved by both our 12 week old Savannah and our elderly Bengal. The Bengal has been eating it for a month, his coat has improved as has his energy levels – seems to be getting younger by feed!

  6. Anonymous

Excellent complete food for cats. My bengal looks very healthy and this helps his coat and general nutrition intake. Loves the chicken.

Cats have eaten it not too enthusiastically though but this batch 7 kilos of it was grey in colour. Strange colour for chicken?/

Not sure I will buy again

I have 10 cats but unfortunately due to the inconsistency with the chicken formula they will only eat this if it is ‘red’ and resembles mince meat. Half the tubs the meat has been brown in colour and they will just not entertain it. The beef was not popular and I am going to try the salmon but if they don’t like that then I will reluctantly have to go back to a specialist tinned food which is a shame as they are mostly feral cats and this food has resolved their stomach issues.

I’m delighted with this food for my young Persian. He has had very soft/runny stools since I got him, having been raised on a well known complete biscuit brand. I ordered a few packs of this to try him on when I ordered my dog food and switched him right over with no issue, he is greedy so that was helpful. The biscuits have been donated to the local cat rescue and I’ve ordered more Nutriment, no going back. The other huge benefit is the litter tray – smell is practically non existent and the stools are small and firm. Everyone’s happy.

The best raw meat for cats. Well balanced, fresh, smart packaging, very convenient to use. My cats love it, never left any of it on the plate. Pricing is great, comes up to less a month then any other cat food. I tried so many raw pet food producers and this one is the best. Its a fine mince, fresh and apparently delicious for cats. Would buy always. Highly recommend, my cats never been healthier!

My cat does enjoy the food but she prefers a different brand which is not as good quality chicken but is a firmer consistency. I continue to feed Nutriment because its better quality and my cats skin and coat is in better condition after eating it. I just wish it was firmer and not so soggy.

Out Bengal loves this food and especially as they can get a funny tummy if they don’t have a good high protein diet, this food is great for her and she seems to love it.

I have a 5 year old male cat who suddenly had a really bad skin condition, vet said it was flea allergy but I had my doubts, we use flea control all year round and it was still there, after vet trying to put our cat on steroids we were desperate, have tried so many things till finally my local pet shop gave me a trial of your frozen chicken food, well I have never seen such a difference in my cat, his skin calmed down within the first week, the scabs are healing up and his fur is growing back! There are no words to describe my elation, he is happier more content and putting weight back on and his constant scratch, lick cycle has gone, I have put all my cats (3) on it now and will be putting my 2 dogs on it as soon as I can! I wish I could hug you for making my cat happy again! Thank-you so much nutriment. X

I have 3 British Shorthair cats who do extremely well on this. They love the various flavours except for the salmon. My friend looks after them when we are on holiday but she thinks I don’t feed them enough. I explained that it is just pure goodness no rubbish or eked out with lots of gravy like tinned foods. In fact I still have to watch their weight on what they get! Coats are lovely an thick. Eyes are clear and no problems at all with poo or general health.

My Bengal babies have been fed nutriment chicken raw food from being weened they are now 7 months old and my snow charcoal boy already weighs 4.7 kg and both their cats are glorious and the litter trays do not smell which is a great benefit as they are indoor cats. Really pleased and have recommended it to my mum and dad who have a very small British blue that loves it and is gaining weight buaetifuly now.

My cat always clears his bowl. He suffers from gingivitis but has no tartar on his teeth. The downside he has put on almost a kilo in weight so have reduced the amount I am giving him.

  17. Anonymous

My cats do very well on this. Occasionally I have to cut back the amount I give them as they sometimes do too well. They have luxurious coats and are fit, well and happy.

  18. Anonymous

My kittens love it and I wouldn’t feed them anything else, no bad breath and less poo which doesn’t smell and they lovelier and look really healthy and vibrant !!!

  19. Anonymous

the product changes too much, my cats will eat it but don’t like the bone, then I could get another batch and ALL wont go near it, and not cost effective to send back, so money wasted

This was recommended to me by the breeder of the two Bengal kittens I am expecting home in May, as I already have a kitten who is 5 months old and not enjoying or appearing to get any goodness out of a very well known kitten brand available in all shops.

I am so pleased for one he really enjoys it and two I am emptying his litter box less and there is no smell to let everyone no he’s been and three his breath does not smell.

Although it is early days to notice any visual benefits as he’s only been eating it a week I wouldn’t feed him anything else now. So glad for the recommendation !!!

My cat has always been fussy, we have steadily worked our way through every known brand of cat food so last resort is raw. I am introducing slowly by adding a little more each day to her usual wet food and it’s going well, she is eating more of the food than she did when it was only wet food alone. Only reason I didn’t give it 5stars is because of the pack size, could do with smaller packs, I have had to cut mine with the bread knife to separate into manageable portions.

  23. Anonymous

I have tried all sorts to get my cats to eat raw, one will eat chicken wings, liver and heart but no other ready meals and the other will have nothing and is just about tolerating this as long as I put a few bits of kibble in with it. As with the other reviews I wish the tubs were smaller and the consistency wasn’t so sloppy

  24. Anonymous

I love this product & have tried it again…After cats going off it..but my cats are not taking to it now..Which is a shame..I would like to know if water is added…& in what ratio?? as this batch is way to wet & sloppy..The reason I buy also for something to chew on..& some toughness..So despite it being a great product..the recipe is not working for mine at mo.

My 4 month old took to this straight away and is quite happy to eat it cold straight from the fridge. He seems to really enjoy it and does lots of skippy, happy leaps and chirps once he sees the bowl coming. It also has no smell unlike tinned cat food that stinks. I am vegetarian and don’t prepare meat but serving him this food does not bother me at all and it’s great knowing that he is eating what nature intended. Also, what comes out the other end is not very smelly and is dry and easy to get rid of. My only complaint, like others, is I wish it came in smaller packs. At the moment my husband has to carve up the frozen blocks into thirds and put each individual piece into a freezer bag so we can defrost one days portion at a time which is a bit of a nuisance but not impossible. If we don’t give our kitty a fresh piece every day then he will turn his nose up at it. Even with this I would still highly recommend it.

Our skinny little cat is now piling on the pounds and eating less food! Just goes to show the quality of the Nutriment product over your well known brands.

Just moved my cats onto raw and they love it

  28. Anonymous

I chose nutriment because it seemed to contain the best quality ingredients and the highest meat content.
My cats don’t like certain meats/fish so I like the fact that this is only one meat rather than mixed.
My only gripe would be that it is very sloppy, however the beef and chicken are less sloppy than the salmon.

    My cats love it!!!!

I hope they bring out more variety though.

Let me preface this by saying my cats will not eat the salmon, and will only eat the beef if starvation has hit. That being said, they like the chicken, thank goodness. We’ve just moved to the UK, and brought our two rescues with us. They’ve eaten raw for a few years in Canada, and absolutely love turkey and chicken. The brand back home was human-grade, with juiced organic fruits and veggies mixed in, plus taurine and all the goodness these fine folks have added here. This is the fourth company we’ve tried since January. You can buy raw pet food in pet stores and even Whole Foods in Vancouver; here, you have to order online, which isn’t always ideal. They did not like the first two brands we’ve tried here; nor do they like rabbit, or duck. They DO like the previous company, (just the chicken, again), and the packages are an excellent size for fridge and freezer…little pouches. But they only add taurine, no vitamins or minerals. We’ve been here three months, and our cats have suffered for not having proper food. When they started eating Nutriment, I noticed their fur getting super-soft again; just like when we first started giving them raw a few years back. No litter smells, either. So, the product is definitely quality, with all the goodness added that we’ve been hoping for; just wish the packaging was better suited for cats. We don’t like to waste it, and we don’t think it should sit in the fridge more than 12 hours once thawed…this way, it’s a couple days, and looks really unappealing. Also, I really wish they’d consider turkey as a choice for cats….it was often sold out in Vancouver! Would happily give five stars for better packaging. Turkey would just be a bonus, since you’re apparently not supposed to feed them only one kind of raw. I suspect this may be a new-ish company, so hopefully they will implement such things at a later date.

I’ve been feeding my dogs Nutriment for some months now and finally decided to take the plunge and switch the cats over too. It’s the best decision I ever made! They all took to it immediately and haven’t looked back. Their coats and teeth look much healthier and they just generally seem more contented…and the massive plus, there’s much less waste in the litter box! I just wish the cat food was available in the same size chubs as the dog food as I’m sure it would be more cost effective, particularly for those with mulitple cat households.

I have 2 cats which have been raw fed for around 2 years now after 6 years on commercial foods.
One cat took to raw like a duck to water but for the other the past 2 years have been a struggle.
I have been using another raw food provider but changed to Nutriment recently on a recommendation.
As ever my cat Simba loved the food. The change wasn’t a problem but with my fussier cat Aslan, for the first time ever (since Whiskas) he ate the whole bowl instantly. He comes running at meal times now and he rarely ever has anything left.
I feel this goes to show that Nutriment have got it completely right with the content and ingredients in their cat food.
If Aslan enjoys it EVERY cat will enjoy it.

My cat likes this food but feeding it according to the instructions means it has often started to go off by the time she has gotten anywhere near the end of a pack , so she won’t eat it and it is wasted . It would be good if you could maybe make it in pack sizes that can be split up more easily and defrosted in stages without having to defrost the whole lot in one go .

Our 2 boys love this , but our third , who is a real chicken, salmon etc meat eater, strangely does not like the raw food. We cooked some of the salmon for him and he seems to like that a little. we’re hoping he’ll slowly get to like it. The other two did not require any weening on and made a straight transition.

I bought this product to help add extra vitamins, minerals etc to basic minced meat and also give a bit of variety. I have a cat with a life threatening allergy to shop bought processed cat meats. We can only have raw meat in the house. They find this product really tasty and there can be a few tiffs over who gets to it first. Even our cat that is a ‘permakitten’ -will never grow into an adult sized cat because he was starved as a kitten and he has stomach problem, he wolfs this down and is at least filling out. Glad I found it.

New to raw little Yoko very happy with chicken Nutriment, no hesitation

Our Kensie is fairly picky about her food. We were using another brand who changed their recipe & she refuses to eat it now. She tucks into this one and always leaves an empty bowl which she licks clean! She loves her Nutriment.

My ragdoll likes this flavor but she won’t eat it in her plate, so I have to give her bit by bit, I wish it was more solid

  38. Anonymous

My cats really like this flavour. It has quite a soft texture but is not mushy and the small pieces pf bone are easy for them to eat.
The kitten is doing really well on this and growing nicely

  39. Anonymous

    My boys love it!

Our two cats liked the chicken formula best, but the consistency (the batch that we received) is rather soft although not as watery as the salmon one.

They all love it .. A pack does not last long in our house
